DJ Equipment Talk: Choosing the Best Mixer

Professional DJ equipment isn’t known for being cheap, so if you’re buying an audio mixer for the first time, you should do a little research before you make a very expensive mistake. Here are three suggestions for a novice looking to buy DJ equipment for the first time. The mixer is an integral part of the DJ package, so here’s couple tips arranged by skill level:

1)      Beginning Mixer: If you don’t have much experience with DJ equipment, your first mixer should be around $100. The Numark DM1050 is a great starter mixer with all the essentials, and it’s quite affordable.

2)      Mid-Level Mixer: If you’re at this stage you are probably ready for a mixer that allows you to do more creative stuff when playing live somewhere. The Vestax VMC-180 3-Channel House/Techno Mixer is great for a newbie who is ready to really master their craft.

3)      Pro Mixer: If you’re ready to spend a little dough on something that most professionals use, the Pioneer DJM-600 Pro DJ Mixer. It’s a 4-channel, crossfader mixer with tons of functions that are ideal for pros.
