DJs For the New Year
As the new year rolls in, you may find you’re the one putting on the show that night. DJs are a hot commodity every December 31st. If you’ve got a gig for your best friend’s party or the biggest nightclub in the city, you’ll need the right professional DJ equipment for your set up. You’ll also want to consider a few things before you head to the big event.
1. Your Audience: Make sure you know what kind of crowd the event is attracting. Early 20 somethings who can party all night to current hip hop and pop hits, or maybe an older group that would rather hear the tunes that remind them of when they were teenagers in the 70s? Having the right playlist is key, no matter what gig you play.
2. Size of the Venue: Make sure the venue tells you how big the place is for two reasons. First, you have to make sure you have the right professional audio equipment, like amplifiers, that are going to fill the room with music. Second, you need to know how much room you have to set up your equipment.
3. The Countdown: When the time comes at the stroke of midnight, it’s all riding on you to create an epic countdown. Whether it’s as simple as getting the crowd pumped to count down with you or having an elaborate, musical plan, make sure you know exactly what you are doing in those last 10 seconds because that’s what matters most to your audience.
Go in with a plan, be prepared for anything, and remember it’s New Year’s Eve! So don’t stress and make sure you get to have some fun too.
