A Subwoofer And “King of the Road”

Spring has sprung and I

am eager to get into my car with the top down and cruise to one of my classic driving mix CD’s. For some, the ultimate road mix is usually a bunch of bass heavy rap tracks like “Ridin’ Dirty.” No doubt those songs sound amazing bursting out of a nice set of car stereo amplifiers and a subwoofer but for me I go down a mellower and more classic group of songs.

My ultimate driving mix definitely includes old time classics like Rodger Miller’s “King of the Road,” Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” and Bob Seger’s “Against the Wind.” Those songs beyond being perfectly on message as far as subject matter just feel like the American road opening up in front of you. You can put them on sitting at your desk at work and feel that sense of liberation that is perfect for getting behind the wheel.

I love the road and I love road music. That is why having the best of the best in car audio equipment is so important to me. You might think you’ve heard “King of the Road” on your computer speakers but until you have heard it with the wind in your hair on the freeway you truly haven’t.
